Midland FFA Chapter Seniors Recognition

On May 13th, the Midland FFA Chapter recognized many of its members at the annual Chapter banquet. A portion of the evening was taken to honor this year’s graduates and all of their achievements while members of this organization. All college bound seniors received a scholarship from the Midland FFA Alumni and other awards were handed out. Congratulations to them all and good luck to each in the future.

Brenda Beaver
Brenda is the daughter of Ben and Jennifer Beaver of Speer. She has been in the Midland FFA Chapter for four years and has served as Greenhand Treasurer, Chapter Sentinel, and Chapter Treasurer. Her SAE is in Ag Sales and her highest award in FFA is the National Silver with Ag Issues. When she thinks of FFA she thinks of all her experiences, new friends, and great memories including her favorite one; advancing at Nationals in Ag Issues. The craziest thing she has ever done with FFA was swing dance at National Convention and Washington D.C. was Brenda’s favorite place to travel to. Brenda plans to attend ICC for the next two years and then transfer to Kentucky University majoring in Agritourism.

Clayton Blunier
Clayton is the son of Darin and Keri Blunier of Speer. He has been apart of the Midland FFA Chapter for all four years and served in several offices including Greenhand Vice President, Chapter Sentinel, Chapter Reporter, Section Reporter, and Chapter President. This following year he will serve as Section 5 President. Clayton’s SAE consists of Specialty Crop Production, Turfgrass Management, Ag Processing, Vegetable Production, and Ag Education. His favorite CDE is Ag Communications and his favorite moment was advancing the first round of National Ag Issues. His plans for the future are to attend ICC and transfer to a university majoring in Ag Communications and Political Science.

Wyatt Colvin
Wyatt is the son of Lance and Jenelle Colvin of Varna. He has been apart of the Midland FFA Chapter for all four years and served in several offices including Greenhand Sentinel, Chapter Chaplain, Chapter Reporter, and Section Sentinel. He says that in these past few years, FFA has helped him come out of his shell and mature. His SAE consists of Safety, Grain Placement, and Grain Management. His favorite CDE is Ag Sales and his favorite place he traveled to was Washington D.C. When thinking of FFA, Wyatt thinks of young leaders learning and doing great things. His highest award in FFA was the National Convention Peace Corp. Wyatt plans to attend ICC, majoring in Agribusiness Management, and travel the Southern States in the future.

Ahren Holler
Ahren is the son of Alan and Allison Holler of Henry. He has been a member of the Midland FFA Chapter for four years. His SAE is in Beef Placement and his favorite CDE is Ag Mechanics. The craziest thing he has ever done in FFA was emptying vending machines of Mountain Dew at State Convention and Ahren’s favorite moment is playing poker with Laffy Taffy. His favorite FFA function was State Convention and his favorite place to travel to was Louisville, Kentucky. His highest award in FFA is the Chapter Degree. Ahren’s future plans include attending Black Hawk East majoring in Ag Mechanics.

Elizabeth Kovach
Elizabeth is the daughter of Ed and Melissa Kovach of Varna. She has been a member of the Midland FFA Chapter for four years and served as Greenhand Historian. Her SAE is in Farm placement and her favorite CDE is Ag Issues. Her highest award in FFA is the National Silver with Ag Issues. When thinking of FFA, Elizabeth thinks of all the friendships she has made. Her favorite moment in FFA was when the Ag Issues team advanced to the next round at Nationals. The craziest thing she has ever done in FFA was ordering Jimmy John’s to her hotel room and Louisville, Kentucky was her favorite place to travel to. Elizabeth plans to attend ICC for another year and then transfer to a university majoring in Ag Business.

Isaac Miller
Isaac’s guardian is Molly Strong. He has been a Midland FFA Chapter member for one semester, as he transferred here from Pekin High School this Spring. He joined FFA as soon as he enrolled in the Ag Mechanics and Horticulture classes. He participated in the Ag Mechanics CDE this year in the welding area, which was his favorite FFA activity. He also participated in the Spring Planting Days Heritage activity and helped with the plant sale. Isaac plans to enter the production agriculture workforce after graduation to earn money to pay for college.

Jennifer O’Brien
Jennifer is the daughter of Patrick and Cathy O’Brien. She has been a FFA member for three years and served as Chapter Student Advisor and Chapter Sentinel. Her SAE is in Poultry Production and her favorite CDE is Prepared Public Speaking. When she thinks of FFA, she thinks of all the friends she has made because of this organization. Jennifer’s favorite FFA function was the Washington Leadership Conference. She says it has always been a dream of her’s to go to Washington D.C. and in the end, this Conference changed her life. Her highest award in FFA is the Chapter Degree. Jennifer plans to attend ICC for two years and then transfer to ISU or U of I majoring in Horticulture, Floriculture, and Landscape Management.

Logan Pyles
Logan is the son of Troy and Heather Pyles of Sparland. He has been a member of the Midland FFA Chapter all four years and served as Greenhand President, Chapter Treasurer, and Chapter Vice President. When he thinks of FFA he thinks of the hard work he’s put into it and the all the fun he has had as a result. His SAE is in Vegetable Production and his favorite CDE is Ag Issues. Logan says the craziest thing he has ever experienced with FFA were the bus trips. His favorite place that he has traveled to for FFA was Louisville for National Convention and he will never forget the moment he and the Ag Issues team advanced past preliminaries at Nationals. Logan’s future plans include attending ICC to then transfer to ISU majoring in Agronomy.
